Dr. Ken Blake started teaching at the MTSU School of Journalism in 1996. He teaches courses in writing, reporting and quantitative research methods. Dr. Blake graduated from Marshall University with his Bachelors and Masters in journalism. He then worked as a newspaper reporter in Huntington, West Virginia for three years, and then went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he earned his doctorate. While there, he met professor Phil Meyer, who inspired him to study data journalism, with which he had had some experience as a reporter. Upon starting his teaching position at MTSU, Dr. Blake created the MTSU Poll. The Poll surveys Tennesseans’ attitudes on social and political issues.
